Sally Ruth Bourrie Publishes Book Remembering 9/11

Roski alum (MA '83) Sally Ruth Bourrie published Oregon Loves New York: A Story of American Unity After 9/11, which tells the inspiring true story of everyday Americans coming together courageously to help their fellow Americans. Three weeks after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, when the world was afraid to get on an airplane, 1,000 Oregonians led by Portland Mayor Vera Katz took 62 flights through 12 airports to show the terrorists they had not shut down American life and to boost the tanking New York economy. But in New York, they discovered they made the greatest difference with their hearts, by being present for people in pain.
